WHO WE ARE

Eu Amo SAC

Eu Amo SAC

The Eu Amo SAC intervenes with young people from vulnerable and disqualified contexts, mostly immigrants’ descendants. We focus our intervention on the premises that every young man and woman are a unique one, with their own story, with discovered and undiscovered talents, and so much potential to be awakened and valued. That is why we exist, to develop self-worth, the love to our neighbour and to our community through mentoring and the activities we develop.

We are aware of what is around us and we absorb everything that we see and hear from the young people to whom we interact with. We are interested in creating and developing products and activities that portrait their reality and necessities, and because of that, in many of the processes, the young people we work with integrate the moments of creating activities and projects, and, this way, we instill and reinforce their critical and creative thinking. We believe that together we go further, although sometimes we arrive more slowly.

We value teamwork and the contribution of everyone to the end result.

CAST

Our actors are always the silver of the house. Sando is well-knowned between us, was not he the supervisor of the project and who teaches performative arts to our youngsters. Cláudia is a raw pearl who allowed herself to be shaped to create her character. Unlike Sandro, she did not have experience in representation, however it did not stop her from having a fantastic result. Cláudia taught us a huge lesson: when we really want something, if we strive for it, we can make it! That was her case!

Sandro e Cláudia

Sandro is 29 years old. He loves acting and to be challenged to go out of his comfort zone. Refém offered him exactly that and the result was unbelievable. He has a vast number of participations in theatre, both as an actor and director.

Cláudia is 24 years old. Until Refém, she had no experience in acting. She is a shy girl, however someone who grabs a challenge with “nails and teeth”, and in which playing the role of Maria became her personal challenge.

TEAM

Our team is always composed by Raquel, Pedro and a group of gifted and dreamy youngsters, with a strong will to accomplish this madness of making short films happen.

DIRECTOR AND ARGUMENTIST

Pedro Mira

Pedro Mira, a native of Lisbon born in 1978, began his academic journey in Multimedia Engineering but quickly discovered that his true fascination lay within the realm of stories and images.

With a mind brimming with creativity, Pedro has spent years developing ideas and synopses that bring fresh perspectives to visual narratives. In 2011, he took a significant step by registering his first feature-length screenplay, titled "Dia Sim, Dia Não". This milestone is just one of the many pages of his portfolio, which includes short films (NOJO and REFÉM) and a mini-series (MALMEQUER).

In 2019, Pedro was recognized for his talent as a screenwriter, being among the 10 finalists of the prestigious Portuguese Language Screenwriting Festival GUIÕES, standing out for the quality and originality of his work.

Pedro's passion for photography is equally striking and finds its ultimate expression in the exhibition "METAMORFOSE". Comprising 11 unique photographs, each accompanied by a narrative of hope, the exhibition sensitively and impactfully addresses the theme of suicide. "METAMORFOSE" has toured several prominent venues, from the majestic Marqueses da Praia e Monforte Palace to the José Saramago Municipal Library, including schools and Beatriz Ângelo Hospital, spreading messages of resilience and transformation.

This project, developed in collaboration with the "Eu Amo SAC" project of the Programa Escolhas, reflects Pedro's essence: a creator dedicated to inspiring and provoking reflection.

However, Pedro's talent is not confined to writing and photography. His creative journey also includes the production and direction of two short films (NOJO and REFÉM) and a highly impactful mini-series (MALMEQUER) addressing the theme of mental health. This mini-series became the foundation of a youth suicide prevention program, demonstrating Pedro's commitment to using his art to promote significant change and touch lives.

Today, Pedro Mira continues to forge ahead on the path of creative innovation, exploring new ideas and developing projects that promise to capture the attention and emotions of all who encounter his art. A true storyteller, born to enchant and inspire through lenses and words.

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

Raquel Correia

Raquel is the executive producer of the three short films of Eu Amo Sac. She is a dreamer who likes to make a difference in everything that she does, and therefore Refém was not an exception, as result it turned out to be innovative experience (at least for us) of making cinema. We like to be challenged and when we are not, we ourselves create our own challenges. Refém was that challenge, created by us with the idea of making things which we were not used to.

Dreams are born, developed and shared in such a way that they no longer belong to just a few people, but become the dreams of many. (dúvidas na tradução desta parte!)

In fact, Raquel dreams of doing new things, to innovate, however, her biggest dream and life motto is to generate change in the people around her!

This is Raquel!
